SteadyBack was not built in an office. It was built after reading hundreds of owners describe the same eight weeks. The vet says crate rest. You carry your dog outside four times a day. You lie awake wondering if you are doing any of it right. Dachshunds were bred long to follow badgers underground. Frenchies were bred flat because we liked the look. We chose those shapes. The dogs did not. So we make the part you can control a little easier to carry.

What we actually do

The Brace Is The Easy Part.

We started by reading. Hundreds of threads from owners in the middle of it. The same eight weeks described over and over: the vet says crate rest, you carry your dog outside four times a day, and you lie awake wondering if you are doing any of it right.

One complaint came up more than any other, and it had nothing to do with the brace itself. Nothing fits properly. Support braces are sized by weight, and weight tells you almost nothing about a dachshund. One frenchie owner told us she gave up and bought a harness made for a cat.

So we size ours on back length, the measurement that actually matters on a dog built like this, and we wrote a guide that walks you through taking it. Your vet sets the plan. We make sure the right thing turns up, fits on the first try, and holds up for the whole eight weeks.
