The base tray has a 36mm clamping lip. You can load any combination of boards whose total combined thickness fits within that 36mm as long as the overall weight stays under the 80kg load rating. The carrier does not limit you to a fixed number. You load what fits and what you can safely manage.
That is exactly what it was designed for. The carrier gives you full control of the boards in a single hand grip your other hand is completely free to open doors, guide boards through doorframes, and navigate tight spaces. Sole traders and self-employed tradesmen use this specifically because it removes the need for a labourer on carry work.
Yes this is one of its strongest use cases. The carrier holds boards vertically and close to your body so the overall footprint through a doorframe is the width of the boards themselves, not the boards plus both your outstretched arms.
